K.O. Explains Why He’s No Longer Heavily Involved In Building SkhandaWorld Artists’ Music. K.O.’s influence on the South African hip-hop scene extends beyond creating exceptional music; the seasoned rapper has also dedicated himself to elevating upcoming artists who draw inspiration from his triumphant musical voyage.
In his unwavering commitment to nurturing emerging talents, the rapper established the SkhandaWorld label, fostering the growth of promising artists like Roiii and Loki. These budding talents show great promise for the future, and their success under the SkhandaWorld banner is poised to become an integral part of K.O.‘s enduring legacy, making him not just a proud mentor but also a proud father figure for their musical journey.
However, during an interview on The Episode Podcast, K.O. revealed that he has scaled back his direct involvement in shaping the music of artists signed to his record label. The SETE hitmaker emphasized that he opts not to get deeply involved because he wishes to ensure that the credit for their music remains rightfully earned by the artists themselves.
“Both of them (Roiii & Loki) heavy in the studio and building and I think this time around just going into it I’m just not as involved in building their music because I dont want to influence what they are doing,” he said.
“For someone else that might be watching, they’re like yeah but why you have hits and the kids dont have it? It is because, when they win, I want them to win, I want them to claim their wins the same way things are not going, you need to be responsible for your own career,” he added.
K.O.’s evolution within SkhandaWorld is a testament to his commitment to the growth of the South African hip-hop scene. By allowing his artists to take the lead creatively, he not only empowers them but also ensures the sustainability and long-term success of the SkhandaWorld record label.
