Nadia Nakai Criticizes DJ Milkshake For Lack Of SA Hip Hop In His Sets. Nadia Nakai has taken to social media to express her disappointment with DJ Milkshake for neglecting South African hip-hop in his recent DJ sets.
In an era where South African Hip-hop is yearning for a resurgence of its golden days, it becomes imperative for all stakeholders within the industry to nurture the culture actively. Whether they be rappers, DJs, or devoted fans, such collective dedication appears to be somewhat lacking.
Taking to Instagram, Nadia Nakai didn’t hold back on her criticism of DJ Milkshake’s recent DJ performances. Bragga expressed her frustration stating that SA Hip-hop DJs are not playing SA Hip-hop music on their sets.
“I’m so sick of hip-hop deejays!!! I’m actually dropping hip-hop joints and you dont play the sh*t,” an angry Nadia said. Nadia added that she once fought with DJ Dimplez for the same thing and she went on to name-drop DJ Milkshake. “Used to fight D about it too!!! @djmilkshake I’m talking about you!! Mxm how many times you gonna play all I do is win! Mxm!” said Nadia.
Despite the strong criticism directed at DJ Milkshake by the “Money Back” hitmaker, she also took the time to commend Ayanda MVP and DJ Double D for their unwavering support of South African Hip-hop music. “@ayandamvp this doesn’t include you cos you really hold up new hip hop drops!” Bragga added.
Bragga went on to emphasize that her ongoing battle with South African Hip-hop DJs has spanned several years, even dating back to the release of “Naa Mean.” She further noted that Amapiano DJs exhibit a stronger sense of camaraderie compared to their counterparts in the South African Hip-hop scene.
