PH Raw Opens Up About His Never-Ending Financial Woes. SA hip-hop, the culture, and the genre made a significant impact on South African popular culture as a whole. For better or worse the rap game has become all about money and flashing the luxurious lifestyle that comes with the rituals of the game. As a result, not every artist or producer has managed to maintain the expensive lifestyle.
pH Raw has been one of the people who have witnessed the transition of the SA hip hop culture. The rapper and producer has revealed how he has failed to maintain the high standard lifestyle that comes with rap culture.
PH Raw revealed his financial struggles and insurmountable debts in an Instagram post. “As a producer & Artist , most of my career I’ve been broke, he revealed. “I’ve lived hand to mouth. I left everything I had going for me going for the music, ever since I lost my home, car & family. IM A BROKE ARTIST, IM A BROKE PRODUCER, IM A BROKE MAN” he wrote.
The rapper further went on and disclosed that he has been broke for the past seven years and yet he lived in disguise to an extent that his family could not notice what he was going through. “My children, nephews and nieces look at me and see more of what they can be, they don’t see what I am… BROKE, I hide it so well.”
pH Raw revealed that he had to borrow money to maintain the lifestyle he has set for himself and his family in order to keep up the appearances that come with being in the entertainment industry. “Over the years I’ve loaned so much money just to maintain my BROKE… Some I even forgot I owe (Embarrassing), cos as soon as I have it, I need to loan another! WHAT A JOKE BROKE ARTIST. BROKE HUMAN.”
Despite his financial difficulties, the rapper has admitted that hope is what keeps him going. He chooses to believe he has much more to give and will not give up. “BUT THERE IS HOPE. THERE IS GOD AND FOR SOME REASON HE HAS KEPT ME LONGER THAN I EXPECTED TO BE HERE. so broke as I am, I STILL HAVE SO MUCH TO GIVE.” He said.
pH Raw X is without a doubt one of the most well-known and respected producers in South Africa. He’s worked on albums like AKA‘s Alter Ego, K.O’s Skhanda Republic, and Khuli Chana’s Motswakorignator, which are considered to be among Hip Hop’s greatest albums.
