Inkabi Zezwe Eye Grammy Awards Nominations. South African rap sensation Inkabi Zezwe aim for recognition in the global music scene following their groundbreaking and culturally rich music.
The duo Big Zulu and Sjava known for their unique blend of traditional South African sounds and contemporary rap, has just announced their submission for the forthcoming 66th Grammy Awards nominations.
Taking to social media, the duo appeared to be beaming with confidence in their music as they announced their submission for the prestigious award. “Bathe shoot your shot angithi? Cela nisfake @recordingacademy,” read the post.
Nkabi Zezwe has been riding on the success of their album titled Ukhamba which has garnered massive acclaim in the music space. The duo submitted their album for consideration in three categories for nomination which are; Best Global Music Album, Best Engineered Album, Non-Classical and Best Immersive Audio Album.
As if that’s not enough, Inkabi Zezwe also put their belief in the track Umbayimbayi submitting it for nomination for Best African Music Performance and Best Global Music Performance. The track has been performing wonders on music streaming platforms.
Not long ago, Umbaymbayi surpassed the 10 million views milestone on YouTube, claiming the title of the most streamed track from the Ukhamba album. Following closely behind is the Sayona music video, with over 1 million YouTube views.
However, since this is not an official nomination but rather a request for consideration, the duo will be keeping their fingers crossed as the Grammy Awards will announce the official list of nominations on the 10th of November 2023. The official award event will take place on the 4th of February 2024.
