In an interview with DJ Mo Flava on 947 FM, the Hape Le Hape hitmaker delved into the reasons behind his unyielding determination to keep creating music, despite the highs and lows that he has faced along the way.

The esteemed rapper disclosed that at one point in his career, he advised himself to quit music due to a notably sluggish start to what has now become a thriving rap career. “I started to jump into other ventures and try to invest, I’ve been scammed. I’ve had a lot of failed ventures, you learn from that because I started becoming desperate. I got to a point where I was like I needed to start working on my exit strategy,” Khuli Chana said.

Nevertheless, despite his initial intention to quit music at the time, the rapper shared that he had a change of heart because music is his true calling. “The music is my true calling and every 3 years or so I want to put out a statement about how I’m retiring and it keeps calling me back,” he said.

Following the debut of his latest single “Khuliyano,” the renowned rapper expressed that any talk of retirement is on hold, affirming that he will never walk away from music. “That statement is on ice, I will never retire. I think I will retire when there’s no music left in you and you dont even need to make an announcement for something like that,” he added.

Khuli Chana proceeded to pay tribute to music, highlighting how it transformed his life and led him to places he had never imagined he would reach. “It’s the music that got me my first international trip, got me my first car, my first apartment, my first everything, my first pair of kicks. Got me into spaces I could have never imagined. I built this network from just singing songs. So I have a great respect for my craft now and what it has been able to do.” Khuli Chana said.
