During an interview with Tbo Touch on the Touch Down show on Metro FM, A-Reece revealed that he had his first conversation with AKA over the phone, discussing the possibility of a collaboration. Reece also stated that he wants to be at the same level with AKA and Stogie T going forward in his career.

“Rest peace to Kiernan, but AKA as well when I look at people like that, I have certain pinnacle sonically that I want to achieve. I’m like these are the guys I look up to when it comes to that,” A-Reece said. Reece shared that upon learning about AKA‘s passing, it felt surreal to him, as he had spoken to the late rapper just a few weeks prior.

“It didn’t feel real, because a couple of weeks before that I was on a phone call with him and this was like the first time ever we got on a phone call together. We were talking about working and everything, I was supposed to be on his album. We were supposed to literally link up after he comes back from the States and does what he does and make some music,” A-Reece added.

Speaking about having been on a call with AKA for the first time, the Paradise hitmaker said it has been a bittersweet moment for him. “It’s bittersweet for me because that was like one of my biggest dreams to work with this guy and I guess you know, it happened just as we were planning. So it’s bittersweet for me because I had to get on a call with him but you can imagine what it could’ve been.”
