Cruz Vodka Backtracks On Plans To Honour AKA’s Legacy. Following the tragic passing of South African rapper AKA (Kiernan Forbes) in February 2023, many brands have sought ways to honour his significant impact on the country’s hip-hop culture.

Cruz Vodka, a brand with which AKA had a previous business partnership, was also exploring options to commemorate his legacy. In a now-deleted Twitter (X) post, the alcohol brand announced that they are working on honouring AKA’s legacy with commemorative products in a bid to acknowledge the late rapper’s impact on their business.

“Hey, We are exploring the possibility of creating commemorative products or initiatives that celebrate his contributions to the Cruz Vodka brand and the impact he had on our community. We will share more details once our plans are finalised.” Cruz Vodka announced.

Nevertheless, in a recent tweet, Cruz Vodka clarified its stance, affirming its dedication to honouring AKA’s legacy. However, contrary to the previous statement, the brand vehemently asserted that there are currently no plans in development for a new AKA edition. “Team Cruz is always committed to the legacy of the late Kiernan Forbes. Nothing is currently in development on a new AKA edition,” Cruz Vodka announced.

After initially announcing plans to honour AKA’s legacy with commemorative products, there was considerable excitement among SA Hip Hop fans and AKA’s Megacy fanbase. However, the news that Cruz Vodka is not currently pursuing any initiatives to honour AKA came as a disappointment to many who were eagerly anticipating celebrating the late rapper’s legacy with a toast.
