AKA’s Former Body Guard Accused Of Paying Hitmen Who Murdered The Bodyguard Of Fort Hare Uni Vice chancellor

Anwar Khan, once a prominent bodyguard to celebrities including AKA, has been arrested under shocking circumstances, accused of orchestrating a crime network that exploited and terrorized the University of Fort Hare. Khan allegedly orchestrated the murder of Mboneli Vesele, the personal bodyguard of the university’s Vice Chancellor, Prof Sakhela Buhlungu, as part of a broader scheme involving massive financial fraud at the institution.

Authorities claim that Khan’s security firm, Pentagon Group, was instrumental in a sophisticated racket that created a climate of fear through deadly shootings, which were then used as leverage to secure urgent and lucrative security contracts from the university. Over a six-month period, Pentagon Group reportedly netted more than R60 million from deploying merely five guards, a sum that starkly highlights the inflated nature of these contracts.

The entire scheme reportedly cost the university a staggering R171 million, leading to significant financial distress. Khan, along with 14 others including some university staff, was arrested over the Easter weekend. The arrests shed light on a deep-rooted network of corruption that not only endangered lives but also threatened the financial stability of one of South Africa’s oldest educational institutions.

The case is set to proceed at the Dimbaza Magistrate’s Court in the Eastern Cape, where Khan will face charges of fraud and corruption. Alongside him, Terence Joubert, an associate also implicated in the scheme, will appear. The prosecution has announced plans to oppose bail for both Khan and Joubert, citing the severity of their alleged crimes and the potential risk they pose.

This case opens a new chapter in criminal activities linked to security contracts at educational institutions, highlighting the need for stringent oversight and ethical governance in the hiring of security services. The involvement of a figure like Khan, known for his connections to the entertainment industry and previously trusted with the safety of high-profile individuals, adds a layer of betrayal and shock to an already grim situation.
