However, music promoters have increasingly become part of the problem, exploiting both established artists and emerging talents who perform at events. This troubling trend has become so widespread that even well-known DJ and producer Dr. Peppa felt compelled to speak out against it.

In a series of tweets, the acclaimed producer expressed his dismay, highlighting that many event promoters are no longer focusing on showcasing genuine talent in their lineups. Instead, they are choosing to prioritize aspiring celebrities over artists with true skill and merit.

“Some of ya’ll just need to be considered line up peeps just do the line up and hire a real promoter cause y’all are killing events no more dope experiences and themes and paying attention to event details. They even blacklist talent cuz they wanna be treated like celebrities,” he said.

He continued; “Some of the promoters don’t even respect the talent/artist/dj/mc no more u just wanna use and abuse they hype and talk bad abt them if things dnt go ur way that time they even gave u a discount, but if things go ur way u don’t even increase the amount just to say thank u.”

Dr Peppa emphasized that promoters bear responsibility for the quality of events, asserting that their failure to prioritize promoting genuine talent contributes to the overall decline in event standards.

“So what’s the best solution for everything is to blame wack events on promoters cuz they be making us look bad to they superiors/investors/bosses and they have to explain y the event was pap and not blame the talent. Talent is not a promoter it’s talent to be seen,” he added.

With his candid statements, the “Just Do It” chanter made it unequivocal that he stands by every word he uttered, refusing to retract his statements and remaining steadfast in his truth. “I don’t speak my truth for people to like me I speak my truth so things can get better, if u get afforded the shoe fits ain’t my problem I just spoke my mind.”
