J. Cole pleasantly surprised fans with a new project named “Might Delete Later,” and within its final track lies a fervent reply to Kendrick Lamar’s highly-debated verse on Metro Boomin and Future’s track “Like That.”

Taking to Instagram, J Cole announced the release of his tape and fans have been treated to a 12-song project with a response to fellow rapper Kendrick Lamar. In the song, the Dreamville rapper eloquently penned several verses that not only showcased his lyrical prowess but also served as a poignant rebuttal to Kendrick Lamar’s contentious verse on “Like That.”

Despite abstaining from directly mentioning names, hip-hop enthusiasts have independently speculated that Cole’s verses serve as a retort to Kendrick Lamar.

“I came up in the ’Ville, so I’m good when it’s tension/He still doin’ shows, but fell off like The Simpsons/Your first sh*t was classic/Your last sh*t was tragic/Your second sh*t put n***as to sleep, but they gassed it/Your third sh*t was massive and that was your prime/I was trailing right behind and I now hit mine/Now I’m front of the line with a comfortable lead/How ironic? Soon as I got it, now he wants something with me,” J. Cole raps.

Without explicitly mentioning any names, the Dreamville rapper subtly hinted at his awareness of Kendrick’s diss at the beginning of the track, suggesting that “7 Minute Drill” serves as a direct response to the Compton rapper.

“I got a phone call, they say that somebody dissin’/You want some attention/It comes with extensions/My dawg like, ‘Say the word’/He on bullsh*t, he itchin’/Done put in so much work in these streets, he got pensions/I told him, ‘Chill out’/How I look having henchmen?/If shots get to poppin’ off, I’m the one doing the clenchin’,”

With J. Cole addressing Kendrick Lamar, fans eagerly anticipate Drake’s response to Lamar, creating a buzz of anticipation within the hip-hop community. Exciting times lie ahead for the genre!
