The renowned rappers have engaged in intense competition, sparking fervent debates among South African Hip Hop fans and dividing opinions on who reigns supreme between the two. However, according to DJ Euphonik, Cassper Nyovest impacted SA Hip Hop compared to AKA.

“No one really wants to hear the truth but that entire generation of rappers, AKA included would be clutching at straws if there wasn’t a Cassper Nyovest,” Euphonik said.

The remarks made by the renowned DJ ignited criticism, particularly from South African Hip Hop fans, including AKA’s Megacy, who admonished him for overlooking Kiernan Forbes’ significant contributions to the genre. Many argue that Forbes’ impact surpasses that of Cassper Nyovest.

During a recent episode of the Choppin’ It With Bhuda T podcast, Rashid Kay expressed his belief that Euphonik‘s comments were aimed at garnering recognition for himself. Rashid referenced an interview Euphonik conducted with Cassper, suggesting that Euphonik implied his influence motivated the renowned rapper.

“It comes from, I think the track where Cassper mentions Euphonik saying this hip hop sh*t will never sell. So Euphonik says that came from the interview they had where he was interviewing Cassper and then he told him about this hip-hop sh*t. Now he’s trying to get the credit like that started some fire in Cassper which benefited AKA,” Rashid said.

Rashid went on to emphasize that Euphonik’s statements lacked accuracy, pointing out that AKA was the initial breakout artist before Cassper Nyovest emerged onto the scene. “It’s not even true because Mega dropped Altar Ego in 2011 and in 2012 he scooped all the awards, he was even Best Man across all genres not just hip-hop. That’s 2012 before Cassper existed in the mainstream. Gusheshe dropped in 2013, AKA was already a superstar having songs with Khuli, Pro Kid. So crediting Cassper for that I think it’s cap,” Rashid added.
