Nadia Nakai Reveals Winnie Mandela’s Influences On Her Upcoming Genre-blending Album. Nadia Nakai is gearing up to release her highly anticipated new album, and she’s offering fans a sneak peek into her creative process.
In a recent interview with DJ Fresh on Waw What A Week Podcast, Nadia Nakai revealed that the late Winnie Mandela, a powerful figure in the fight against apartheid, served as a major source of inspiration for the project.
“There’s an album it’s also called Umfazi. It’s coming soon, like I said it’s not a tribute to women but it’s got a lot of influences from Winnie Mandela. But I dont want to talk too much about that, but I’m really excited for people to listen to it,” she said.
Bragga mentioned that her upcoming project is a 12-track album where she explores a broader musical vocabulary, noting that it’s not strictly hip-hop. “It’s not a long album, I think about 12 songs and I’m exploring my music vocabulary on it as well, It’s not just strictly hip-hop. There’s definitely hip-hop but there’s some dancehall, there’s some more three steps, there’s some more house. I mean I got a song with Ziyon and Liquideep and he produced it. It’s so amazing, so I’m really excited for people to hear it,” added Nadia Nakai.
