Khuli Chana: “AKA Immortalized me”

In a recent insightful interview on Choppin’ It With Budha T, Khuli Chana delved into how AKA‘s presence profoundly shaped his musical journey, despite both artists navigating within the same musical ecosystem.

Khuli Chana acknowledged the love the late rapper had for him during their time working together. “One thing I take from it, back to Forbes, Forbes immortalized me,” Khuli Chana said. “I didn’t realise how much Forbes loved me until the last days.”

“He called me that Thursday before… Thursday night before he passed and he wanted us to go touring and performing Prada and whatnot. But Forbes was consistent and very loud about his love for me,” he added.

The Mostwako rap star revealed that given the number of South African rappers who have tragically passed away in recent years, he started feeling a looming sense that he could be next. “When you start losing your peers you feel like you’re next and start to wonder if have done enough. Now you start to live in worry.

Having been shot at, having survived it, and having come face to face with your mortality after that I didn’t fear death so much. The weirdest thing is that like psychologically you start looking for it, you start to look for the danger. But that had me shaken (AKA death), from Dimplez, now the grieving is back to back and that has changed, you dont know how to grief,” Khuli Chana said.
