This perspective highlights how the genre is continually transforming, embracing new influences, and adapting to the ever-changing musical landscape. Rather than seeing it as a decline, enthusiasts view it as a dynamic phase of growth and reinvention.

Famed Producer Herc Cut The Light expressed that SA Hip Hop is one of the people who firmly believe that the genre is operating on a new dimension stating that it’s now way better than it was before.

“Hip-hop is in a very exciting place, it’s way better than what it used to be because the internet is getting bigger because of that the world is becoming smaller so now we have access to like do many so many things.

“We have artists signing international deals, shoutout Blxckie he signed a deal with Def Jam so hip-hop is touching a new ground so for me it’s just an interesting journey to see where it’s come from. You know hip hop from Durban, hip hop from Pretoria, it’s crazy like it’s actually becoming a culture,” said Herc Cut The Lights.

Herc Cut The Lights recently stepped out from behind the scenes to deliver his debut single, “Tholakuwe.” The track features some of South Africa’s hottest talent, including Sjava, Blxckie, and Young Stunna.

“Tholakuwe” is a surprising departure from the high-energy production Herc is known for. Instead, it offers a downtempo vibe, allowing the featured artists to shine. Sjava’s infectious chorus lays the foundation, while Blxckie and Young Stunna weave their lyrical magic on top.

This debut single feels like a heartfelt offering, a love song celebrating the beauty of finding love. “Tholakuwe” marks an exciting new chapter for Herc Cut The Lights, showcasing his artistry beyond production and hinting at a promising solo career.
