Cassper Nostalgic As “Tsholofelo” Album Turns 10. Hip-hop titan Cassper Nyovest is currently basking in a wave of nostalgia as his groundbreaking debut album, “Tsholofelo,” celebrates its 10th anniversary. Released in July 2014, the album catapulted the young rapper to stardom, introducing the nation to his raw talent infectious energy and creativity.
Taking to social media, Cassper expressed his heartfelt gratitude for the album’s enduring impact. The rapper reflected on the bigger things and the doors the album opened for him. Not only has he made an impact in SA through his music, but Cassper also inspired black South Africans with his success through business ventures.
“Where do I start ??? How do we even celebrate this??? First and foremost I wanna thank God for the talent, the protection and his grace even when I was in the wilderness. My testimony is a real one. A young boy who had a dream and believed in God. We dropped this album independently with no experience, wisdom or money. Little did we know that we were making history and that we would change the ground of South African music and Africa as a whole forever. The album went on to win many awards and is the best-selling Hip Hop Album of all time.
“It started debates and is a case study in many rooms. It’s cause of this album that today kids know they can do it all in their bedroom and nobody is running to labels to be signed and enslaved. We changed the structure of corporate partnerships with artists and we started demanding what we were worth and not what they offered us. This is the album that set the foundation for me to become the first African Artist to sell out The Dome which was the most prestigious venue in Africa. We opened a retail store called @family_tree_store and it thrived for years before we closed it down. Everything flows from this album, including my business endeavours like @billiato1 and @rootoffame.” Cassper wrote.
In his lengthy post, the rapper took a moment to express his gratitude to everyone who contributed to the success of his debut album— from the producers and writers to, above all, his fans.
“I would like to thank all the producers, artist and writers who worked on the album. We have a lot of celebrations planned for this monumental moment. We shall meet soon. I would like to thank all the friends and colleagues who supported me from the get go , till today the stand beside me and uplift me. I would like to thank my ever Sooooo loyal fans. #TeamNyovest I would like to thank my team, especially @bridgeentsa @bridge_tlee for going on this journey with me. We did my G!!! To God be the glory.”
Cassper Nyovest has recently given his life to Jesus Christ and in the spirit of celebrating the milestone of his debut album, the rapper also took time to thank God for his success.
“Lastly and most importantly I would like to thank Jesus Christ for always being faithful. Thank you for choosing me and using me as a beacon of hope. Thank you for your grace that has transformed me from a young boy with dreams to a young man with purpose. I love you God but most importantly, I lean into your love. Thank you for not judging me or condemning me but saving me and giving me rest,” he added.
