Kane Keid Apologizes Following Controversial Remarks On A-Reece’s Musical Versatility

The comments, made during a recent interview, sparked a wave of backlash from fans and the hip-hop community, with many defending A-Reece’s lyrical range and musical talent. In the interview, Kane Keid was asked to choose between A-Reece and Nasty C.

When discussing A-Reece, he controversially stated that he doesn’t believe A-Reece is as versatile as Nasty C, citing the latter’s ability to blend different genres and his mainstream success. “I love Nasty C, I feel like with Nasty C I have a wide range to select from. With A-Reece, it’s like constant raps and sometimes it feels like the topic is being repeated. No, I have to be honest, with A-Reece it seems like, it’s always betrayal or it’s always friendships. I dont think I’ve heard a wide enough versatility from Reece,” Kane Keid said.

The comments immediately drew ire from A-Reece‘s fanbase, who took to social media to express their disappointment. Many pointed out A-Reece’s ability to experiment with different sounds and topics throughout his career, from his introspective lyrics on “Paradise” to his more melodic and experimental tracks on projects like “The Burning Tree.”

In response to the backlash, Kane Keid took to X to apologize for his remarks. “You guys are unreasonably controversial, only engage if its hatred spewed or controversy and comparisons to Reece or anyone in that camp, not necessarily purely off the music. I do apologise for the way the comment came across though. my bad OG,” wrote Kane Keid.

Despite offering an apology, the young rapper may have acted too late, as many SA Hip Hop fans and loyal Reece supporters began unfollowing him on Spotify. This could prove to be detrimental to his career, which is still in its early stages.
