Usimamane: “I’m still A-Reece’s fan”
Usimamane: “I’m still A-Reece’s fan.” A-Reece and Usimamane have been stirring up quite the buzz in the SA Hip Hop scene, keeping fans and industry watchers on their toes with their recent exchange of subtle jabs. Their back-and-forth has sparked conversations, adding a fresh layer of intrigue and intensity to the rap game, as listeners dissect each lyrical shot and social media hint.
Before their recent back-and-forth, the two renowned rappers shared a mutual respect and admiration for each other. However, tensions ignited when A-Reece released his Kill The King mixtape on the same day Usimamane dropped his debut album. The timing added a spark of rivalry, giving rise to a wave of animosity that caught the attention of fans and reignited old competitive fires.
Speaking during an interview on Slikour On Life, the Umlazi-born rapper said that he is an A-Reece fan but it is Reece’s fans (Slimes) who have a problem with him. “Honestly speaking, I’m a fan but I just dont like how his supporters always come at me. So it was just like, a lot of people and him (A-Reece) as well on Twitter he took it there and just like was on some you know I’m putting it up in your face that you’re number 1 independent. I was so crazy,” he said.
Amid the brouhaha surrounding his clash with A-Reece, Usimamane took a moment to set the record straight, making it clear that he remains a fan, despite what the rumours and public perception might suggest. “I dont think I will ever diss him, I’m still a fan even now, even though they dont think I am a fan, I still bump him, he added.
“I couldn’t even bump his album, because we dropped the same day, so there was that feud you know, everything going on. But I started listening to him and I have to say, great project and I’m not just saying this because cause you know, but I’m being genuine right now. With the supporters and stuff, I feel like Twitter and social media always be driving everything crazy. So I dont know how he is going to take that, but it’s whatever right now,” Usimamane said.
