PdotO Pays Tribute To Legendary Actor Don Mlangeni Nawa Following His Passing. South African rapper and actor PdotO has joined the nation in mourning the loss of veteran actor Don Mlangeni Nawa, whose passing was confirmed yesterday, 16 April 2025.

Taking to social media, PdotO shared a heartfelt tribute, writing, “Thank you for inspiring us, legend. Rest well 🕊️🇿🇦”—a sentiment that echoes the grief and admiration felt across the country.
Born in Soweto in 1959, Don Mlangeni Nawa rose from humble beginnings to become a towering figure in South African television and theatre. His breakout role as Laqhasha in the 1980s sitcom Sgudi Snaysi introduced audiences to his magnetic charisma, but it was his portrayal of Zebedee “Bra Zeb” Matabane on Isidingo that cemented his status as a household name. For over a decade, Nawa brought depth and humanity to the beloved character, earning him the Golden Horn Award for Best Actor in a TV Soap in 2006.
Nawa’s versatility shone through in a career spanning over three decades. From the menacing Zakes Mhlongo in Hlala Kwabafileyo to his recent roles in The River, Shaka iLembe, and Netflix’s Savage Beauty, he captivated audiences with his ability to breathe life into every character. “He always created magic out of the script,” said fellow actor Sipho Mbele, reflecting on Nawa’s craft.
The news of Nawa’s passing was confirmed by his family in a heartfelt statement: “It is with deep heartbreak that we share the passing of our beloved father, Don Mlangeni Nawa, on 16 April 2025. He was the heart of our family – a loving father, brother, and friend. To the world, he was a gifted and respected actor whose presence lit up every stage and screen he graced.” The family has not disclosed the cause of his death.
