The 9-track project marked an important milestone in Kane Keid’s career as an up-and-coming rapper, but the hype surrounding its release quickly turned contentious after pre-release comments he made about fellow rapper A-Reece surfaced. In a candid interview, Keid said:

“I love Nasty C. I feel like with Nasty C, I have a wide range to select from. With A-Reece, it’s like constant raps, and sometimes it feels like the topic is being repeated… It seems like it’s always betrayal or it’s always friendships. I don’t think I’ve heard a wide enough versatility from Reece.”

The remarks sparked immediate backlash from A-Reece’s loyal fanbase, many of whom accused Kane Keid of alienating the very audience that might have supported him. Given the stylistic similarities between the two artists — both known for introspective lyricism and a melodic approach — fans were quick to point out that Keid’s criticism may have cost him early support.

Now, with Not Famous failing to break into the Apple Music charts, the response from fans has been both critical and divided.

One user wrote,

“But genuinely speaking, as a hip hop fan not a $lime, that project mid😭 I couldn’t finish it and it’s not even 10 songs long… if he’s gonna talk about Reece like that he should at least be special, cause Reece is.”

Another added,

“We warned @kanekeid_ that his audience is actually A-Reece fans but he spoke crap about A-Reece… Nasty C fans don’t listen to bars, so they won’t support… only A-Reece’s fanbase does that.”

While criticism poured in, some fans stood by the rising artist:

“Got this n*a, it’s his debut EP, still trusting the process. Good things take time. As for you A-Reece dk suckers, post what number DJ Clen’s album is on the charts. Real question 👀😂”

Still, others were more blunt:

“Next week, that trash will be out of the top 200.”

“Nah… the album was just lukewarm.”

Amid the noise, a more balanced take emerged:

“Wrong people you mean Slimes? Y’all think you own music neh?? You must stop being delusional, Keid’s project is good and he’s still upcoming. He just has to put more work on the marketing & related.”

Though Not Famous hasn’t made a commercial impact yet, Kane Keid remains in the spotlight, whether for his music or his mouth. Time will tell if the young rapper can navigate the backlash, rebuild trust with hip hop heads, and convert criticism into career growth.
