Stilo Magolide On Clearing SheIn Carts: “My Only Regret Was Not Being a Billionaire”

Stilo Magolide On Clearing SheIn Carts: “My Only Regret Was Not Being a Billionaire.” South African rapper and fashion maverick Stilo Magolide recently opened up about the heart behind his 2023 single “SheIn Carts”, and the generous real-life gesture that accompanied its release: clearing shopping carts for lucky women across the country.

In a moment of spontaneous generosity at a poolside hangout, Stilo Magolide and his team made the impulsive decision to clear multiple SheIn shopping carts — the popular online fashion platform — for female fans. “We were just chilling at the pool house, and we just decided we’re gonna clear SheIn carts,” Stilo shared. “We cleared a lot of SheIn carts.”

But for the stylish rapper, known for pushing the culture forward both musically and visually, this wasn’t just a stunt. It was a statement. “The main thing about the song was just being nice to girls,” he explained. “In Hip Hop, yes, we say nice things to girls sometimes, but we’re never nice to girls. In music in general, people are not nice to girls.”

That realisation sparked more than a single. It sparked smiles across the country. “For me, it was a good thing to just give back and see so many girls smile,” he said. “The only regret I have was not being a billionaire so that I can do it more. Even after the fact of the song, when I can, I just keep doing it.”

When pressed on just how many virtual carts he cleared, the rapper couldn’t pinpoint an exact number, but the cost spoke volumes. “I’m not really sure how many carts I cleared,” he admitted. “It fluctuated in terms of pricing, but we spent like R45,000 throughout the whole rollout, which was quite a lot.”

Ever the entertainer, Stilo couldn’t help but add with a chuckle, “I don’t think I would give away R45K without making them dance on a live on TikTok.”

“SheIn Carts” wasn’t just a song — it became a feel-good moment that mixed fashion, music, and generosity, reminding fans that hip hop has a heart. And for Stilo, that heart beats loudest when people smile — even if it comes with a digital receipt.
