DJ Ready D’s G-CAP BeatBangaz DJ Academy Finds New Home at Tiny Warehouse, Woodstock

G-CAP NPC, South Africa’s powerhouse non-profit dedicated to empowering youth through Hip Hop culture, has officially found a fresh home for its flagship BeatBangaz DJ Academy—and it’s already pulsing with rhythm. The academy has now taken residence at the vibey and versatile Tiny Warehouse in Woodstock, Cape Town, a move that marks more than just a change in address. It’s the start of a bold new chapter in G-CAP’s 13-year mission to inspire, educate, and uplift.

The new teaching campus and studio were broken in (in true BeatBangaz style) with a free, high-energy DJ workshopon Saturday, 5 July 2025. Despite Cape Town’s stormy skies doing the most, dozens of music lovers, aspiring DJs, and long-time supporters turned up and turned out. Inside Tiny Warehouse, the atmosphere was electric—literally and spiritually—as beats dropped, skills were shared, and hearts were lit.

“These open days are more than just workshops – they’re about creating community,” said DJ Azuhl, head of the BeatBangaz DJ Academy and local legend behind the decks. “Our aim is to preserve and elevate the DJ arts, while building a platform where both new talent and seasoned DJs can grow, connect, and inspire one another.”

And grow they did. The day saw walls vibrating with the sound of scratching vinyl, hands-on mixing sessions, impromptu cyphers, and passionate discussions on everything from beat matching to building a sustainable DJ career.

DJ Ready D, iconic turntablist, founding member of Prophets of Da City, and G-CAP’s CEO, described the vibe best:

“The warmth inside that room couldn’t be matched – beats were shared, knowledge exchanged, and a community strengthened. This was more than just a session: it was the beginning of something deeper.”

He added, “As we reflect and meditate on activating Phase Two, and as we thank our partner Pioneer DJ, know that your support fuels the next chapter. Let’s keep building, connecting, and creating spaces where the culture can breathe and grow – across genres, generations, and journeys.”

G-CAP’s work has never just been about DJing—it’s about transformation. For over a decade, the organisation has championed youth from underserved communities, equipping them with tools, mentorship, and spaces that allow personal growth through the lens of Hip Hop.

The BeatBangaz DJ Academy is one of its crown jewels: a program that fuses old-school DJ principles with cutting-edge digital tech, preparing students to thrive in the ever-evolving music and creative industries. From technical prowess and digital production to confidence building and self-expression, the academy turns curiosity into craft—and potential into purpose.

The new base at Tiny Warehouse offers an environment perfectly suited to this mission: gritty yet inspiring, intimate yet professional. It’s the kind of place where decks, dreams, and direction collide.

The next BeatBangaz DJ Academy course kicks off on 13 September 2025, welcoming learners of all levels—from total beginners to bedroom pros ready to level up.
