DJ Sliqe Explains Why He Doesn’t Want To Release Albums Anymore
DJ Sliqe Explains Why He Doesn’t Want To Release Albums Anymore. Renowned South African producer and DJ, DJ Sliqe, is changing course—opting for a lighter, more playful path in his musical journey. The architect behind the celebrated Injayam album series has revealed that he’s closing that chapter to embrace a more spontaneous, vibe-driven creative direction.

In a candid reflection, Sliqe shared his current mindset: “I feel like it’s very important to have fun and everything. I think that’s gonna be my thing moving forward.”
For fans expecting another layered, conceptual full-length album, Sliqe says not so fast. He’s pressing pause on traditional album formats and instead leaning into smaller, punchier projects: “I’m kinda done with Injayam. So I feel like I’m done being serious. Now I just wanna do tapes, EPs, and collabs—this year and next year. I don’t wanna do, like, albums.”
The reasoning? Simplicity and impact. Using his recent Bangerville release as an example—a compact five-track offering—Sliqe highlights his focus on quality over quantity. “That’s why even Bangerville is 5 songs. The point is like we remove the fluff. You know in the album there’s a couple of bangers but then there’s the slow songs, then the serious songs—nah, take all that out. Just go straight for the boom.”
This marks a significant shift for a producer who once carved his name through carefully curated sonic journeys. But now, the mission is clear: no filler, no overthinking—just pure, unfiltered music. “I just want the fun,” he concludes.
