Taking to social media, The Recording Industry of South Africa (RiSA) took to social media to proudly announced that Dayimane’s Big Boy EP, released on 16 June 2023, has officially been certified Double Platinum—a massive feat for the rising star.

But instead of popping champagne, Dayimane poured cold water on the celebration with a single, cutting response: “no plaque cap…”

The cryptic-yet-clear reply, posted shortly after RiSA’s congratulatory post, suggests that the artist has not received the physical certification plaque that should accompany such a milestone, hinting that the public announcement may be premature or, worse, misleading.

Tony Dayimane’s Big Boy EP has undeniably made waves across the country, earning street credibility, critical acclaim, and now — supposedly — multi-platinum status.

Tony Dayimane has become one of the most promising voices in hip hop, with Big Boy establishing him as a force to be reckoned with. The EP blends gritty street storytelling with polished production, earning him a loyal following and widespread acclaim. Its potential double platinum status would mark a major milestone for a debut project, but not without the physical proof to back it up.
