Ndu Browns Responds To Blaq Diamond Split Rumors

For months now, speculation has been swirling around the future of South Africa’s award-winning Afro-pop duo, Blaq Diamond. Fans have been concerned that the pair made up of Ndu Brown and Danya Devs might be going their separate ways, especially after a string of solo projects released by Danya Devs.

But in a recent interview with City Press, Ndu Brown finally broke his silence, setting the record straight, Blaq Diamond is not splitting.

“We are definitely not splitting, me and my brother can never split,” said Ndu Brown. “I think we love each other so much, the bond is just insane.”

However, as both members have begun to explore their individual artistry, whispers of a potential split gained traction. Danya Devs’ recent solo drops, which have been received with excitement and curiosity, added fuel to the fire.

His tracks have showcased a slightly different style from the group’s signature sound, sparking questions about whether the duo had grown apart musically.

But according to Ndu, these solo projects are not signs of a breakup, they are part of a well-planned artistic strategy.

“We planned this,” Ndu explained. “We started having this conversation from last year on how we would do something like this.”

He emphasized that the intention was never to replace Blaq Diamond but to expand their creative expression. Ndu confirmed that both he and Danya Devs agreed on exploring their solo sides while keeping the integrity and unity of the group intact.

“The whole idea of doing something like this, with Danya dropping his solos and when I drop my solos, it’s not gonna sound like anything we do when we are Blaq Diamond,” Ndu said. “That is the aim around the goal behind it, to give people more music, as we have realised that our audience is very wide.”

Since their debut, Blaq Diamond has been known for their ability to fuse Maskandi, Afro-pop, and hip-hop influences, crafting a unique sound that resonates deeply with a cross-generational audience.

Their chemistry, both on and off stage, has played a major role in their rise to stardom and from what Ndu is saying, that chemistry remains unshaken.

While the duo focuses on their solo careers, showcasing a more experimental and modern flair, fans can also look forward to still hearing Blaq Diamond.
