A-Reece Lands Major Feature on Your Old Droog’s Upcoming Album “Bread & Butter” A-Reece countinue taking his lyricism to an international stage after securing a feature on New York rapper Your Old Droog’s upcoming album Bread & Butter, which is scheduled for release on September 25.
A-Reece appears on the album’s fourth track, “Pavlovian Effect,” alongside Your Old Droog, veteran MC Masta Ace and multi-instrumentalist DJ Harrison. Produced by Ohbliv, the collaboration was released as a single earlier this year and now forms part of the album’s official tracklist.
The collaboration carries added weight for A-Reece, who has previously expressed his admiration for Your Old Droog’s music. Following the release of Droog’s 2024 album Movie, A-Reece publicly placed the Brooklyn rapper among his favourite MCs.
The relationship between the two artists had already been developing before the collaboration was confirmed. In late 2024, Droog indicated that he planned to work with A-Reece, with the two eventually confirming that they had recorded together in early 2025. “Pavlovian Effect” marks the result of that exchange.
The upcoming Bread & Butter album takes its name from Droog’s family history and the experience of his relatives after emigrating from Ukraine to Brooklyn. The title references their practice of stretching limited supplies of caviar across bread, an idea that informs the project’s broader approach to making the most from what is available.
Beyond A-Reece and Masta Ace, the album features a diverse group of collaborators. Evidence appears on “Brighton Beach,” Oddisee features on “Thinking,” while Tarriona “Tank” Ball contributes to “I Appreciate You.” Kim Hill appears on “Symphony,” Conductor Williams features on “Schadenfreude,” and Flying Lotus and Georgia Anne Muldrow join Droog on “I Don’t Care.” The project also includes the bonus track “Impression Control.”
“Pavlovian Effect” brings together artists from different generations and hip-hop scenes, with Droog’s measured delivery, A-Reece’s melodic approach and Masta Ace’s veteran presence meeting over Ohbliv’s atmospheric production.
For A-Reece, the collaboration adds another international credit to a catalogue that has increasingly connected South African hip-hop with artists beyond the country’s borders. His appearance on Bread & Butter also reflects the long-standing influence and exchange between South African and American hip-hop communities.
With Bread & Butter arriving on September 25, “Pavlovian Effect” gives listeners an early look at one of the album’s international collaborations and places A-Reece alongside established names from the US hip-hop scene.
