Cassper Praises Scorpion Kings’ FNB Stadium Spectacle As A Monumental Win For SA Music. Cassper Nyovest has praised DJ Maphorisa and Kabza De Small following the Scorpion Kings’ major FNB Stadium concert, describing the achievement as a significant moment for South African music.
The award-winning rapper took to social media after Saturday night’s show on 19 September 2026 to recognise the impact of the Scorpion Kings’ milestone.
“What Scorpion Kings did last night is monumental. That’s breathing life into the South African music industry as a whole. Celebrating a culture, genre and a people. The boys are blessed to have created this thing that now feeds so many families. I have nothing but respect!!!” Cassper Nyovest wrote.
The Scorpion Kings Live: Family Affair brought more than 70,000 fans to Johannesburg’s FNB Stadium, with some reports putting attendance above 74,000. The large-scale production featured more than 50 artists across Amapiano, hip-hop, Afro-soul and other South African sounds.
Young Stunna, Focalistic, Kamo Mphela, MaWhoo, Nasty C, Blxckie, Ami Faku, Msaki and Ringo Madlingozi were among the artists who joined the celebration.
The FNB Stadium concert followed the duo’s 2025 performance at Loftus Versfeld Stadium and represented another major step in the growth of their Scorpion Kings brand. It also highlighted the scale Amapiano has reached since emerging from South African township communities.
Beyond the performances, the event created opportunities for artists, dancers, musicians, technical teams, vendors and other workers involved in staging a stadium production. That wider economic impact reflected the point Nyovest made about the duo creating something that now supports numerous families.
The concert also attracted attention online after claims circulated that police intervened towards the end of the event, with reports alleging that the power was cut before Maphorisa and Kabza De Small could properly close the show. The incident became a talking point on social media, although much of the conversation remained focused on the scale and significance of the concert.
Cassper also addressed comparisons between the Scorpion Kings’ achievement and his own history at FNB Stadium. His 2017 Fill Up concert at the venue drew a reported 68,000 people and became an important milestone in South African hip-hop.
“Before anyone believed it was possible, Cassper Nyovest did it!!! You can never rewrite history. Congratulate the boyz without using my name!!! Be happy for them, I know I am !!! It’s an amazing day for South African music but most importantly, for THE LEGENDARY SCORPION KINGS!” he wrote in a separate post.
Maphorisa has previously acknowledged Nyovest’s influence, crediting the rapper with showing local artists that it was possible to stage major stadium concerts.
The Scorpion Kings’ FNB Stadium performance therefore added another chapter to the growing history of South African artists taking local music to some of the country’s biggest stages. For Nyovest, the achievement was not simply about filling a stadium, but about recognising the culture, genre and people behind the music.
SABC is scheduled to broadcast the concert on 3 October, allowing audiences who could not attend the live event to watch the Scorpion Kings’ FNB Stadium spectacle.
