Danya Devs Drops Acoustic Version Of “Took a Shower.” Danya Devs is giving fans a different way to experience one of the standout moments from his debut solo album Bayede. The South African artist has released “Took a Shower (Acoustic),” a stripped-back version that trades some of the original’s bounce for a more intimate presentation.
Uploaded to Danya Devs’ YouTube channel on 9 September 2026, the acoustic version runs for just over two minutes and keeps the character of the original intact. The production is noticeably lighter, putting more attention on Danya’s voice, delivery and playful storytelling. His lines about waking up, taking a shower, money coming in without being requested and moving around Thekwini take on a more conversational feel in the pared-down setting.
The original “Took a Shower” appeared as the second track on Bayede, which was released in January 2026 through Dolphin FC. The 18-track album marked Danya’s official move into his solo chapter after years of making music as one half of Blaq Diamond. The project brought together elements of Afro-pop, hip-hop and soulful street music, with guest appearances from artists including Cassper Nyovest, Kwesta, Sjava and Nomfundo Moh.
The new release also follows Danya’s recent acoustic revisit of “Abakhongi,” another song from Bayede. Both releases appear connected to a wider acoustic project that is currently available for pre-save, suggesting that fans could hear more stripped-back versions from the album soon.
With the Bayede Tour also continuing, the acoustic releases arrive at an interesting point in Danya Devs’ solo journey. Upcoming tour dates include performances in Durban and Gqeberha, allowing these more intimate interpretations to take on a different life on stage.
