Eastern Cape Rappers Get Final Call As iFani Builds EC vs KZN Cypher Lineup. Eastern Cape hip-hop is preparing for a lyrical showdown with KwaZulu-Natal as veteran rapper iFani calls on the province’s best MCs to step forward for an EC vs KZN Cypher.

Eastern Cape Rappers Get Final Call As iFani Builds EC vs KZN Cypher Lineup

The Gqeberha-born rapper and “Shake” hitmaker has already set the wheels in motion, releasing a Ma-Air freestyle as the official warmup track after fans asked for it. iFani revealed that he had selected 15 names from the public comments, but the search is not over.

He is now looking for five more MCs to complete the Eastern Cape lineup, making it clear that popularity alone will not be enough to secure a spot.

“Give me the HOTTEST, not just lo umaziyo. Sifuna oyena untswembu,” iFani said.

With the selections taking shape, the rapper declared that the cypher is now close to getting underway. The format is expected to put the focus firmly on lyrical ability, giving underground and emerging artists from both provinces an opportunity to represent their regions through their bars.

TruFM has come on board as a media partner, while Nasty Energy Drink is backing the Eastern Cape side. The involvement of established partners could give the provincial clash a wider platform beyond the local hip-hop scene.

iFani also added some competitive energy to the announcement, insisting that the Eastern Cape will not be taking an easy approach against KwaZulu-Natal.

“asinobethwa ngamaZulu kodwa noba sekuthiwani. Not kwi Rap,” he wrote.

The upcoming clash follows recent EC vs KZN cypher activity, with Ma-Air’s contribution already receiving attention from fans who praised its Xhosa-rooted spaza rap influence.

For iFani, the cypher is also an opportunity to put a spotlight on Eastern Cape MCs who may not always receive national attention. His long-standing connection to vernacular rap and Eastern Cape identity has made him a prominent voice for artists from the region.

Cyphers have traditionally provided rappers with a platform to prove their lyrical ability, but this matchup adds provincial pride and bragging rights to the competition.

The message from iFani is straightforward. Eastern Cape MCs have one more chance to make their case, and only the strongest names will make the final lineup.

With the EC side preparing to go head-to-head with KZN, the real battle will begin when the microphones are on and the bars start flying.
