Flash Ikumkani Celebrates 7 Million Streams For IQHAWE (Deluxe) Five Years On. Flash Ikumkani is celebrating a major milestone for his debut album IQHAWE (Deluxe), with the project officially surpassing 7 million streams across digital platforms.
The Eastern Cape rapper shared a commemorative plaque honouring the achievement, accompanied by the message, “Iyabulela ilali 🤎🙏.” The phrase reflects the gratitude at the heart of Flash’s music and his appreciation for the community that helped shape his journey.
Released on 17 September 2021, IQHAWE (Deluxe) has continued to attract listeners five years after its arrival. IQHAWE, which means “Hero” in isiXhosa, introduced Flash as a distinctive voice in Xhosa hip-hop. The 14-track album followed the momentum he had built through songs such as “Mhluzi” and “Ubizo.” “Mhluzi” previously made an impact on South African radio, reaching the top of 5FM’s Local Top 5 while also gaining traction on Metro FM.
The album features several notable collaborations and fan favourites, including the title track with Leezy Lindokuhle, “Mama” featuring Emtee, the “Mhluzi” remix with Soul T iDyan and Bravo Le Roux, as well as “I Need A Bag,” “iKitara” and “iNkwenkwezi.”
Born Hlumile Mangoloti on 25 March 1998, Flash Ikumkani has built his identity around Xhosa-language hip-hop, often moving between isiXhosa and English while drawing heavily from his Eastern Cape upbringing.
His career has also included an early association with Emtee, followed by an independent run under his Chosen Ones banner. Since IQHAWE (Deluxe), Flash has continued expanding his catalogue with projects such as Utshintsho Deluxe, Isibane Selali and Die Hard. His growing profile has also seen him feature in a BET Hip Hop Awards cypher.
