K.O Delivers New Summer Release “Shumi” Featuring Blue Pappi
K.O Delivers New Summer Release “Shumi” Featuring Blue Pappi. SA hip-hop veteran K.O is kicking off the summer season with “Shumi,” a new single featuring Ladysmith rapper Blue Pappi. The collaboration is out now, bringing together two artists from different stages of their careers for a fresh release as the warmer months approach.
The Skhanda World founder teased the track earlier this week, sharing cover artwork featuring a woman’s silhouette against a yellow background, accompanied by colourful lettering spelling out the song’s title. K.O announced the release with the caption, “NEW SINGLE OUT THIS FRIDAY! #SHUMI K.O ft. #BLUEAPPI Summer shuuuuun.” He confirmed its arrival on Friday, 23 October, with the track now available across streaming platforms.
“Shumi” adds another release to K.O‘s 2026 catalogue as he marks 20 years in the music industry. The rapper has already commemorated the milestone with “20 Summers” and “Hotela,” continuing to build on a career that has established him as one of South African hip-hop’s enduring figures.
Blue Pappi, a member of the Qwellers collective, joins the veteran rapper with a growing catalogue of his own. His recent work includes the 2025 album Emadlelweni Aluhlaza and the EHLANE mixtape, further establishing his presence in the local hip-hop scene.
Speculation around the collaboration had been building for months after studio footage of the two rappers working alongside engineer Mixed By NeiLT surfaced online. The release of “Shumi” now brings the previously teased studio link-up to listeners.
With K.O’s established sound meeting Blue Pappi’s distinct style, “Shumi” arrives as artists and fans begin looking for fresh music to carry them into summer. The collaboration also gives the two rappers an opportunity to bring their respective audiences together on a shared release.
“Shumi” by K.O featuring Blue Pappi is available to stream now.
