A-Reece Speaks On The Process Behind Creating ‘HIBACHI’ Off His Latest Mixtape. Award winning rapper A-Reece is one of SA Hip Hop’s most treasured artists. The rapper rose to fame at an early age and took the Hip Hop industry by storm. He is still keeping South Africa on it’s toes with his high quality music drops.
The rapper was recently featured on UK Magazine Clash Magazine where he spoke about his latest mixtape release Today’s Tragedy: Tomorrow’s Memory: The Mixtape and the influences behind his music. A-Reece also discussed where his love for music came from.
Speaking specifically about HIBACHI off the mixtape which was recorded in 2020, A-Reece was asked what the story behind the song was. He explained that he had recently discovered a place where he could source samples and instantly fell in love with Ace Spectrum’s I Don’t Wanna Play Around and it reminded him of other songs. He instantly knew that he wanted to create something with the song.
“I had just discovered Tracklib, I was digging for samples for the first time and I stumbled on Ace Spectrum’s ‘I Don’t Wanna Play Around’ record. It immediately reminded me of Drake’s ‘Fancy’ and Estelle’s ‘Silly Girls’. I just knew I wanted to do something with it and make it my own. I wanted to make it raw and gritty; I didn’t want to add drums, I wanted my words to dominate.” He explained.
He agreed with the interviewer who mentioned that HIBACHI is a fan favourite on the mixtape but A-Reece also mentioned that he feels MARK 15:35 is also a stand out track because it’s the opening track.
A-Reece is set to drop a collaboration project with American rapper Joey Fatts. The two have already released a single Where You At that fans have loved so far.
