Rick Ross Comments On Priddy Ugly’s IG Live Interview With Belaire CEO. Rapper Priddy Ugly recently sat down with the President and Chief Executive Officer at Sovereign Brands, Brett Berish for his Self Made series, where he interviews individuals from around the world about their journeys in their respective careers.
Priddy Ugly shared with Brett his self-made journey in South Ah hip hop, from his come up to his new album, SOIL. American rapper Rick Ross, who is an ambassador for the liquor brands owned by Sovereign Brands such as Belaire, tuned into the live and commented on the interview. Rick Ross commented on the Instagram Live interview, with a fire emoji, letting everyone know his opinion about the interview.
In the interview, Priddy Ugly spoke about making it as a rapper despite, people doubting that he would be able to become a successful rapper. “You need to understand that the hip hop industry in South Africa, is still a very young industry. And when I started rapping, this is back in high school, around 2004. It wasn’t popular to be a rapper, it wasn’t popular to want to be a musician. Hip Hop was never a big genre, in that time especially it has grown much further in this period.”
Priddy also shared that with Brett making it in South Ah hip hop is a big deal as Hip Hop Culture in Mzansi is not as big as in America, as people in South Africa identify more with dance music than hip hop. The rapper also shared artists who have influenced his musical journey. He credits Kwaito artists Brown Dash, Mapaputisi and Arthur Mafokate on influencing him to become a rapper. Priddy Ugly shared how Mapaputsi rap style on Kwaito music influenced him, he shared how Mapaputsi would rap on Kwaito beats.
Brett asked the rapper when was the moment when he actually knew that he had actually started making waves in his career as an artist. Priddy shared that this moment would be in 2015 when he dropped his mixtape, You Don’t Know Me Yet, which got him noticed in the hip hop industry. The offering even got the artist noticed by record labels in and out of the country.
The rapper also spoke about having a partner in the entertainment industry, Priddy is married to media personality, Bontle Modiselle – Moloi. Priddy calls his partner his best friend and she is definitely his biggest cheerleader. The rapper sees the fact they are both in the same industry as a positive thing as they are able to support each other better when it comes to their respective projects. The couple has collaborated on music together under their duo name, Rick Jade, Priddy shared that Rick Jade is working on new music.
