Is Kuli Roberts SA Next Hip Hop DJ? Actress and TV presenter, has set her eyes sights on becoming South Ah’s next Hip Hop DJ. The news of Nomakula “Kuli” Roberts next moves comes shortly after the announcement that she will no longer be a part of politics. For a hot minute, Kuli was Mzansi’s latest celebrity to switch to a political career. During an interview with Daily Sun, Kuli revealed her plans to become a DJ.
Kuli is known for always speaking her mind but one has to wonder will she be able to handle all the heat that comes with SA Hip Hop. Kuli revealed to the publication she wanted to revive SA Hip Hop, which is quite the task. She also revealed to Daily Sun, who has been training her in her quest to become a DJ. Kuli has entrusted Ntando Duma to teach her how to spin those decks. The bubbly personality becoming a Hip Hop DJ would add to the number of female DJs that include the likes of Ms Cosmo, in the country.
“Ntando Duma is going to teach me how to DJ. She was taught by DJ Zinhle, who was also supposed to teach me but I was too busy at the time. This is something that I’ve been wanting to do and now that my kids are out of the house living their own lives, I have time on my hands. I also need to start living, and I’m certain I would do great as a DJ,” Kuli told Daily Sun. Only time will tell if Kuli will be successful as a Hip Hop DJ. Kuli is no stranger to the music scene, in 2018 she released a single called, I’m Not Your Cougar.
Being a SA Hip Hop DJ is no easy task, the DJs recently caught some heat on social media for allegedly not moving with times and still playing old SA Hip Hop tracks and none SA Hip Hop. The DJs have urged SA Hip Hop artists to drop the hits, so they can play them during their sets. SA Hip Hop DJs are always being urged to spin bangers from local artists, it can be tricky for them to keep it strictly local but many do try. The music SA Hip Hip DJs play is always a talking point, especially when it comes to the state of SA Hip Hop but as long as the music the crowds going, the DJs keep playing.
