Reason Speaks On Why Diss Tracks Won’t Save SA Hip Hop
Reason Speaks On Why Diss Tracks Won’t Save SA Hip Hop. Reason has been enjoying a good spell as an Amapiano artist. After he signed for Warner Music South Africa the veteran rapper promised big things to come as he embarks on a new musical journey.
With SA hip hop being labelled a dead genre for a while, SA rappers have been in a bid to push and revive the genre. Friday last week witnessed the eruption and euphoria within the SA hip hop space after Big Zulu grabbed the limelight with his 150 Bars diss track to his fellow rappers.
SA rappers have been striving to promote and revive the genre after it was declared to be dead for a while. Big Zulu’s diss track triggered a never-ending conversation on social media with calls for other rappers to respond to Nkabi Records Boss. K.O has been the latest rapper to respond to the Imali Eningi hitmaker and that has triggered cheers and jeers within the Mzansi hip-hop scene. Reason has come out and shared his opinion towards the diss tracks that have been released by the two decorated SA rappers.
Sizwe Alakine has clearly admitted that SA hip hop is still dead despite the excitement towards the diss tracks that have been released recently. The award-winning rapper stated that the diss tracks are not going to bring back the dominance of SA hip hop rather they are only going to benefit Big Zulu and K.O.
“Also. I hate to say this. But. These diss records ain’t gone bring Hip Hop back hey. They only gone benefit Big Zulu and KO,” tweeted Reason. In the same tweet, the 31-yeard-old rapper went on and gave a solution to what can save SA hip hop. He revealed that SA rappers must revive themselves first and that way they will be able to save the rap game.
Reason admitted that what Big Zulu and K.O have done is special but he openly said that it’s only a moment that does not come with a long-term solution to save rap in South Ah. “But The only thing that can revive Hip Hop is Hip Hop artists reviving themselves. That’s it! Yes, This is a special moment. But it’s only a moment.” He wrote in a tweet.
Reason has had his own fair share of diss tracks when he was fully invested in rap. The rapper had his own diss tracks directed to Stogie T and Flex Rabayeezy.
