Priddy Ugly Shares Why He Started Replacing The N-Word In His Music With ‘Majita.’ In hip-hop culture, the use of the N-word is as common as the certainty of the sun rising tomorrow.
However, Priddy Ugly has been enjoying the success of his last album ‘DUST’ which has been making waves in the SA Hip Hop culture with fans plauding him for his exceptional pen game and the arrangement of the project.
With the plaudit that the award-winning rapper has received following his body of work, the reigning Lyricist Of The Year stated that he is changing the use of certain words in his music in a bid to accommodate the South African culture and roots.
The rapper said that he’s still using the N-word but he’s putting effort into using the word less in his music going forward. “Started replacing the word ‘niggahs’ in my songs with ‘majita’ just to bring it back home abit. Still might use the n-word here & there, but generally just trying to use it less. Random, but just thought you should know,” Priddy Ugly said.
Priddy Ugly’s choice has ignited discussions, earning praise for his thoughtful approach, with some expressing appreciation for artists including Maglera Doe Boy for incorporating more relatable South African slang.
