Taking to X, the renowned rapper delves into the depths of memory, recounting a poignant chapter from her life when she grappled with the demons of drug addiction following the loss of her beloved grandmother. She vividly recalled the ordeal of enduring social media abuse inflicted by her compatriots, who unleashed a barrage of hurtful remarks aimed squarely at her.

“I have endured years of being torn up just being myself. South Africa showed me flames. The words underneath this picture I posted after my gran died could have killed me, from drug addict to demon 826 comments, many won’t endure hate like that in thier life time, this is a day,” wrote Toya Delazy.

The acclaimed rapper and lyricist didn’t hold back as she aimed her criticism squarely at the South African music industry, including media outlets and record labels, accusing them of actively undermining her music career.

“We need media that is reliable that share the developments of the nation without bias. We are losing huge amounts of cultural information coz our media is captured! The whole thing needs to burn, I cannot live so hard for my people and have them not seen. WHY aren’t we seen!!!”

She continued; “I stopped sending my music videos SA TV after I sent ‘Greatest’, ‘Tini’ ‘Resurrection’ to Trace, and they complained about the quality, when I use the best, so I couldn’t get on TV with new material, all the avenues that were major lead were closed like I never existed.”
