After the resounding success of the documentary screening, the Maftown Heights festival is making a triumphant return with a special “Reunion” edition slated for this November in Johannesburg. This eagerly awaited event promises to unite fans and artists in a vibrant celebration of Motswako music and hip-hop culture, marking a poignant moment in its rich legacy.
Maftown Heights Untold Stories, which aired last month and closed with its last instalment on Saturday, captivated audiences with its bleak representation of the festival’s history and effect. The documentary eloquently demonstrated the festival’s critical role in raising Motswako musicians and elevating their voices. Its achievement has rekindled passion and increased expectations for the festival’s return.
