Shebeshxt was allegedly involved in two separate stabbing incidents in Lebowakgomo in 2022, resulting in his arrest last April and subsequent detention for several months before being granted bail in July. Mashudu Malabi-Dzangi on behalf of the NPA, confirmed that the case is actively moving through the plea and trial stages.

This critical phase involves both the prosecution and defence preparing their arguments, with each side presenting evidence and testimonies as the legal proceedings unfold. The ongoing developments are closely monitored as they will determine the next steps in this case.

“Chauke is facing charges of assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm and attempted murder, however, he was unable to make it to court due to injuries sustained in an accident last month,” said Mashudu Malabi-Dzangi as per Zimoja.

However, Malabi-Dzangi stated that the case has been postponed to 19 July 2024 to allow Shebeshxt’s representatives time to submit medical records. This request comes in light of Shebeshxt‘s involvement in a serious car accident last month, which has raised concerns about his current health status and ability to participate fully in the proceedings.

The court has deemed it essential to review these records to ensure a fair and just process moving forward. “The accused appeared in absentia at the Lebowakgomo regional court for pre-trial. He could not attend court proceedings due to ill health. The court postponed that matter to 19 July 2024 to enable him to provide medical certificates.”

As if that weren’t already a heavy burden to bear, the renowned rapper is also reportedly facing charges of culpable homicide. This serious situation stems from a tragic accident that resulted in the loss of his daughter’s life, adding an unimaginable layer of pain to his already tumultuous circumstances.

“The police must adhere to legal protocols and pro- cedures while conducting their investigation to ensure that the rights of all parties involved are respected and that the investigation is conducted fairly and in accordance with the law,” said Malesela Ledwaba Police Provincial Spokesperson.
