During a candid interview on the Engineer Your Life Podcast, Rabanyan discussed his experiences in the cutthroat South African music industry, both during and after his successful run on the VUZU Entertainment show The Hustle.

To carve out a place for himself in the industry, the rapper revealed that he was approached by a prominent figure in the South African entertainment scene, whose name he chose not to disclose. This individual reportedly offered him six million rands for a same-sex hookup.

“I was homeless, I was living at taxi ranks, so this guy knew about that story so he tried to lure me saying, ‘even me bro, I used to live on the streets but today’ and he pointed to his car outside it was an M4 and saying that’s my car now,” Flex Rabanyan narrated.

“He was like, you need to know the right people, let me introduce you, then he introduced me to some other gentleman and as soon as he put his arm over me, I could just feel the energy. I was like homie I dont wanna bury you today, take your hands off me real quick you know with a smile on my face. He was like bro, I can give you a deal for 6 million rands next week, it’s just one night bro,” said Flex Rabanyan.

Although the offer seemed attractive, Flex expressed scepticism about the amount of money being offered for sex, noting that it was clearly too low given the stakes involved. “I thought, why would anyone pay you 6 million rand for sex?

“Clearly, they know that the price is too low, you gonna play it in your mind until you die and perhaps it could be too high a cost for me. So I took that decision to not value money over everything but also you gonna have to live with yourself after all of that,” he added.
