Emtee: “I Smoke for Serenity and Calmness.” In a candid revelation, Emtee recently opened up about his relationship with smoking, shedding light on the deeper motivations behind his habit.

The self-proclaimed Hustla has become a prominent figure in SA Hip-Hop, gaining widespread recognition for his music that resonates deeply with many South African youth striving to succeed in life. However, the man behind the inspiring music has been battling his struggles and smoking has become one of his places of refuge.

Speaking during an interview on Open Chats Podcast, Emtee said that he has been through a lot in his life and smoking gives him a bit of calmness and peace. “I always tell people, I’ve been through so much, I feel like I’m 90 years old. So I smoke for serenity, tranquillity and calmness because I’ve never met an English stoner since I was born,” he said. “So that’s my USA, that’s my think twice before you do something or say something.”

Although smoking brings him peace, Emtee noted that he can live without it, having trained himself to forgo certain things, including smoking and food. “I’ve trained myself or taught myself to live without certain things, even food itself. Like now I’m fasting, I’m about to drop an album so I’m fasting, I dont eat the whole day,” he added.
