The Big Hash Responds To Criticism Over Possible Amapiano Collaboration With Kelvin Momo
The Big Hash Responds To Criticism Over Possible Amapiano Collaboration With Kelvin Momo. In a recent exchange on X (formerly Twitter), South African rapper The Big Hash found himself defending his long-term vision of exploring the amapiano genre and collaborating with one of its top artists, Kelvin Momo.
The interaction unfolded after a fan praised the rapper for his potential in the amapiano space, citing his collaboration on the song “Tomorrow” as evidence of his ability to pull off the genre. The fan wrote, “Give me The Big Hash and Kelvin Momo. That ‘Tomorrow’ joint is proof that he can do piano hey.” To this, The Big Hash responded by revealing that the collaboration was something he had been manifesting for two years, writing, “Been manifesting this one for two years.”
However, the conversation took an unexpected turn when another follower challenged The Big Hash’s claim. The follower accused the rapper of being disingenuous, alleging that he was simply jumping on the amapiano bandwagon because Momo featured fellow rapper A-Reece. “Stop lying just cause you saw him featuring Reece, y’all are fake asf 🤣 you just want Momo’s clout we not f00ls, suddenly you been manifesting with amapiano dude LMFAO,” the follower wrote.
In response, The Big Hash, not one to shy away from defending his creative integrity, clarified his position. He shared a detailed explanation of his two-year journey in amapiano, which started well before he collaborated with Momo.
“I’ve been working on Piano for two years kid. Got advice from Cass to rock out 2 YEARS AGO coz he heard my very first piano song with Nvcho, who works closely with WHO since WHEN?!” he explained, referring to his early involvement in the genre. “You think in that 2022, I wasn’t manifesting Momo? O tagilwe 😂 don’t say ‘suddenly’, check dates!”
The Big Hash’s response highlights his long-standing involvement with amapiano, well before his more recent collaborations. The rapper also referenced advice from Cassper Nyovest, who encouraged him to explore amapiano, following his first piano track with Nvcho in 2022. The mention of his 2022 song with Nvcho underscores the rapper’s efforts to experiment with new sounds and break boundaries in his music.
