Nadia Nakai Puts Music Distribution Company Ziiki Media On Blast

Nadia Nakai has publicly criticised music distribution company Ziiki Media, sharing a detailed account of her experience with the company in a series of Instagram Stories recently posted.

In her initial post, Nakai wrote: “Don’t bother with @ziikisouthside what a joke! Just shut down already!” She continued in another post: “Don’t do it! Don’t say I didn’t warn you! They are the pits!!! @ziikisouthside ain’t the option! RUN!!!”

Nakai, who has previously been associated with Ziiki Media, followed the posts with video stories in which she expanded on her frustrations with the company, stating: “I’ve never dealt with people that can’t do the bare minimum. They actually made me feel like I hate my life, nothing is going well and it’s actually them promising you the world. I put them on my show. We did lunch, PR and announcement.”

She described feeling misled by the promises Ziiki Media made during the early stages of their working relationship. “I had to put them on blast because I saw they signed a new artist recently and I can’t in good conscience keep quiet about what a mess Ziiki Media is,” she said.

Nakai went on to criticise what she perceives as a lack of industry knowledge among Ziiki Media’s leadership: “The lady there doesn’t know about the South African music industry, she doesn’t care about the industry at all. I feel like she was given this company by her dad to keep herself busy.”

She noted that the only person on the team who seemed invested in her music career was the one who initially brought her into the deal, someone she says has since left the company.

Nakai also detailed the logistical breakdown surrounding the release of her album. “When I signed, the first contract they gave me was wild,” she said. “They took me to dinner, bought me Versace glasses and did a whole launch and announcement, promised me the world but can’t even do the bare minimum.”

According to Nakai, she handed over her album to Ziiki Media three months ahead of her planned release date. However, she said the company was not ready and requested she push back the launch. “I moved the release date for another month for them to do absolutely nothing,” she stated. She also alleged that the company failed to update her own Essentials playlist on streaming platforms.

Nakai implied that more will be revealed, saying: “I will do a story time on a live one day.”

She concluded with a strong statement about the emotional toll of the experience. “It’s actually mind-blowing, the stories and the nonsense I was receiving with Ziiki Media. It’s so unfortunate. I actually feel like I was taken advantage of because I was in hell at that time and I just needed help. I also feel like they used me to do marketing.”

Ziiki Media has not responded to the allegations made in Nakai’s posts, and the company has not issued a public statement as of this report.
