Shebeshxt Walks Free On R5,000 Bail As February 2026 Trial Looms. Controversial Limpopo rapper Shebeshxt, real name Lehlogonolo Chauke, is once again a free man after the Lebowakgomo Regional Court granted him R5,000 bail on Thursday in connection with a dramatic road-rage shooting incident.

The “Ambulance” hitmaker, known as much for his raw street anthems as for his off-stage antics, appeared briefly before Magistrate Mohlala Masha. He faces charges stemming from an alleged confrontation with another motorist earlier this year, during which he is accused of drawing a firearm and discharging several rounds at both the driver and the victim’s vehicle.

State prosecutor Advocate Tinyiko Maluleke opposed bail, arguing that Shebeshxt remains a flight risk and a danger to society, citing his growing rap sheet. The rapper is already juggling multiple high-profile criminal dockets, including two counts of attempted murder, assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, robbery with aggravating circumstances, and malicious damage to property in separate cases.

Defence attorney Advocate Nthabiseng Dubazana successfully argued that her client has consistently attended court appearances in his other matters and has strong ties to the community. Magistrate Masha ultimately granted bail with strict conditions: Shebeshxt must report to his local police station twice a week, surrender his passport, and refrain from contacting state witnesses.

The road-rage shooting trial has been set down for 17–19 February 2026 in the same Lebowakgomo court, where the state is expected to call eyewitnesses and present ballistic evidence.

For now, the self-styled “King of the North” is back home, but with a crowded 2026 court calendar and the weight of several serious charges hanging over him, the next chapter in Shebeshxt’s turbulent story is far from written.
