Emtee’s Fans Rally Behind The Rapper As #FreeEmtee Takes Over Social Media. Emtee’s HustleGang is making its voice heard online as the South African hip-hop star remains in custody, with supporters rallying behind the rapper through the growing #FreeEmtee campaign.
“FREE BiG HUSTLE | GOODNESS GRACIOUS 💔,” fellow rapper Zoocci Coke Dope wrote on X after highlighting that Emtee had already spent 12 days in custody. The post added fresh momentum to a campaign that has seen fans flood social media with calls for the rapper’s release.
Emtee, whose real name is Mthembeni Ndevu, has been in custody at Johannesburg Correctional Centre, popularly known as Sun City, since mid-August. His detention followed a decision by a Midrand magistrate to revoke his R1,000 bail.
The rapper was initially granted bail on 11 June 2026 after spending a night at Midrand police station in connection with allegations that he breached a 2023 protection order obtained by his estranged wife, Nicole Chinsamy.
The protection order reportedly prohibits Emtee from verbally abusing or harassing Chinsamy on social media. Reports indicate that the latest alleged breach involved WhatsApp messages in which Emtee allegedly used an offensive name when communicating with her.
While the legal proceedings continue, supporters have taken the fight to social media. An Instagram reel shared by ranks_atm with the caption “FREE EM GUYS TILL ITS BACKWARDS‼️🏧” attracted a wave of messages from fans demanding the rapper’s freedom.
“Free my Goat 🐐,” one supporter wrote, while others posted “#FreeEmtee” and “Free Big Hustle”. The comments reflected the strong connection between Emtee and the HustleGang, with fans also expressing appreciation for songs like “Fugazi”.
The online campaign comes at a turbulent time in the rapper’s personal life. His separation from Chinsamy has remained a subject of public attention, with allegations and counterclaims playing out in the public domain.
In early August, Emtee issued a public apology to his children and supporters. His reported relationship with singer Nandi Ndathane has also attracted attention, while separate reports have detailed tensions involving his parents and Ndathane over personal belongings.
