Cassper Faces Sample Clearance Issues As New Album Plans Take Another Turn. South African hip-hop heavyweight Cassper Nyovest has revealed that a sample clearance issue is affecting plans for his upcoming album, with one of the project’s key tracks potentially being left off the final release.
Responding to a frustrated fan on X, the “Doc Shebeleza” hitmaker explained that he is still trying to secure clearance for what he describes as the album’s main single and his favourite song on the project. “I’m still having issues with sample clearance for the main single of the album. That’s like my favourite joint on the album, and I can’t drop without it,” Nyovest wrote. “I’ll have a date before the end of Sep, doe. Might have to leave it out.”
The exchange followed a post from fan G.A Lesabe, who questioned the rapper over the continued teasing of his new album. Written in Setswana, the fan asked, “Gape wa re miza ka taba tsa new album. Kgante dintshang jo?” which roughly translates to, “You’re teasing us again about the new album. What’s really going on?”
Nyovest’s response sparked a wave of reactions from fans, with many encouraging him to keep fighting for the track rather than remove it from the album. One follower urged him, “Don’t leave it out Unc,” while another echoed the sentiment, writing, “Don’t leave it out… yilwa,” meaning he should fight to keep the song.
The sample clearance hurdle comes as Nyovest continues to build anticipation around his next album. Known for placing significant emphasis on his production and musical direction, the rapper appears determined to include the track if the necessary permissions can be secured.
For now, Nyovest has indicated that fans should expect an official release date before the end of September. However, the final tracklist could still change depending on whether the sample clearance is resolved.
