Nasty C Looks Back On A Decade Of Highs And Lows Since “Bad Hair” Album. Nasty C has reflected on the decade-long journey that followed the release of his breakout project Bad Hair in 2016, describing the years since as a roller coaster filled with both major highs and difficult lows.
Looking back at the period that introduced him to a much wider audience, Nasty C acknowledged that his career has gone through different phases since he was the young artist whose music was gaining traction on youth radio stations. Ten years later, he has built a career marked by major milestones, while also experiencing the challenges that come with life in the public eye.
“Bumpy. It was a roller coaster, I can’t lie,” Nasty C said when asked to sum up his creative journey over the past decade. “There were a lot of high moments, obviously, a lot of good moments, but, you know, real life, so there were a lot of lows as well.”
The rapper was also reminded of the number of firsts he achieved at a relatively young age, including the Ivyson Tour, as he continued to establish himself beyond the music that first brought him recognition.
For Nasty C, however, those milestones were not necessarily the result of a carefully calculated plan. He explained that much of his motivation came from simply pursuing the future he had imagined for himself while growing up. “I was just chasing my dream, you know? Just going after it, man,” he said.
The rapper recalled spending time in his bedroom as a young person imagining the things he wanted to accomplish and the level he hoped to reach one day. His focus, he explained, was on turning those childhood ambitions into reality.
“Just trying to make everything that I saw in my head as a kid, just in my bedroom, just thinking, ‘Oh, one day I want to do this and that, and I want to be this big,’ just chasing that and trying to make that become an actual reality,” he said.
A decade after Bad Hair, Nasty C’s reflection offers a glimpse into the mindset behind a career that began with youthful ambition and developed through both achievement and adversity. Rather than presenting the journey as a straight path, the rapper described it as an experience shaped by the highs and lows that came with pursuing the dream he had envisioned long before the wider public knew his name.
