SABC Spokesperson Responds To The Demands Of Cancelling Sjava’s Music

SABC Spokesperson Responds To The Demands Of Cancelling Sjava’s Music. In the midst of the saga concerning Sjava and Lady Zamar certain organizations and companies have decided to detach themselves from them, mostly Sjava.

Last week, DStv Mzansi Viewers’ Choice Awards, Cape Town International Jazz Festival and Miss Mpumalanga immediately cut ties with Sjava. The public has too chosen sides on the matter, some people urged for Sjava to get cancelled. Huge broadcasting channels were demanded by some people to stop playing his music.

SABC as the biggest station was expected to react on the matter, also because it plays his music at all times. Acting spokesperson Mmoni Seapolelo stated that it won’t cancel Sjava until he has been declared guilty in the court of law.

“The SABC respects the rule of law and believes that any allegations levelled against anyone should follow the due process of the law,” said acting Seapolelo said.

“Thus at this stage, it is premature for the SABC to take any decision regarding broadcasting Sjava’s music.”

Sjava denied sexually assaulting the Collide singer.

“I did not rape her [Lady Zamar]. Ngithe mina [I said] I would follow legal processes to protect myself,” Sjava wrote.
