Skwatta Kamp Celebrates “SVN” Apple Music Milestone

The hip-hop group rocked the SA Hip-hop scene back in 2001 when they dropped Khuti En Joyn and their work will forever be well placed in the hall of fame. Their last album which they dropped on Freedom Day has gained a massive reception amongst SA Hip-hop lovers and the numbers are speaking for themselves.

Taking to Instagram, the iconic group announced that the SVN album has reached 2 Million Apple Music streams a month after its release. The group had nothing but gratitude for the fans who have been appreciating their work since their cameo. “Thank you for 2 million streams on @applemusic! SVN OUT NOW!” Read the post.

The iconic group has not been allergic to getting big numbers whenever they drop new music. The group’s debut album ‘Khut En Joyn, which sold 25,000 units, was followed by subsequent hit albums such as Umkhukhu Funkshen and Washumkhukhu.

Even though they have enjoyed a good spell in the SA hip-hop space over the year, Skwatta Kamp also endured moments of hardship. This came after they lost two of their members Flabba” Habedi and Musawenkosi Molefe, aka Nish. Flabba died in 2015 after he was stabbed by his girlfriend, whilst Nish succumbed after showing COVID symptoms in 2021.

The existing members have always remembered their late heroes. Skwatta Kamp even included Nish in the form of animated visuals for the song  “In The Name Of Love.”
