Yanga Chief Explains Why He Won’t Release A Music Project Anytime Soon. This year, South African rappers are maintaining momentum, as many of them have committed to releasing new music projects in a bid to keep the energy high. After witnessing a slew of album releases in 2023, this year is most likely to be the same as well.

However, not every SA rapper is in that creative space at the moment, and Yanga Chief is one of the rappers who has made it clear that he is not going to be dropping a music project anytime soon. Speaking during an interview on PopCast Radio with Ms Cosmo, the “Ntoni Na” hitmaker put aside the idea of dropping a music project anytime soon.

Yanga Chief said that he will only be working on releasing singles and the only reason he can drop a project is because he owes his record label one more music project. “Right now my head is not in a project space. I might drop a project because I actually owe my label one more project then I can go figure myself out,” he said.

“Im really into my single run, like different sounds and whatever, you know. You will see as they start coming out. I feel like a project is so stifling because now I have to decide that I’m working on this sound then I have to go tell everybody about where this sound comes from. I need to give you a whole speech about the sound and how I’m into it, next thing i need to start learning how to dance so many things,” Yanga Chief added.

The rapper explained that for him, delivering high-quality music is more manageable by releasing singles and creating compelling music videos that resonate with his sound. This approach allows for a streamlined rollout without the need to focus on a multitude of songs.

“I feel like it’s easy for me to get away with that when I just do my singles, do my nice videos that match my singles and have like a full rollout done, instead of taking on so much work and your album is just gonna sit there until like you shoot a video for everything,” he said.
