Gemini Major

What did you get into first, rapping or producing?

Started off with producing then i started doing hooks for beats, eventually i started doing full songs, lol am not a rapper by the way

When did Gemini Major pick up the pen and what got you to constantly write?

Well I still wanna learn how to write, I just freestyle and go with whatever energy the beat gives me.

Starting up what were some of the challenges you faced?

People always trying to exploit your talent for their own benefits I was sold a lot of dreams on the come up,but I guess its part of the learning process.

How did you get your first break?

Well it was when I entered the battle of the year producers competition in 2010 where I did well and after that I got recognition as a producer, still took a while for people to take me seriously though.

How has signing with Family Tree changed your life?

Created some good relationships for me,and also introduced me to a new platform.

How did the Collaboration with Khuli Chana and Aewon Wolf come about?

I did the beat and started playing around in the studio, freestyled the hook, then slept on it for a while, then Aewon heard it and jumped on it,Khuli heard it and he also like the song,we kicked it off and decided to drop itWhat inspired you to talk about ‘Walking and Dabbing’ on the hook?

Lol , a lot of fake people around us,so it was for every negative people trying to bring people down,we walk and dabb on them.

What are your thoughts on the current state of Hip Hop?

Very interesting now that people are paying attention, theres alot of competition,2016 is an interesting year for SA HIPHOP

Do you think beef is good for Hip Hop?

I guess so, if you look at it closely you will notice how its helped our industry grow and mostly because of beef,so not to promote beef but sometimes its needed.
